What is Massage Therapy?

Registered Massage Therapists assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue (muscles, tendons, fascia) and joints of the body, mostly by hands-on manipulation. By working on these musculoskeletal functions, they promote health, wellness and peak functioning.

Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.

One of the great things about massage therapy is that, in addition to being very effective, it usually feels really good! The applications of massage therapy are vast and on-going and is tailored to each individual patient. RMT's are trained in a variety of techniques and will likely use a combination of them in your treatment. Most issues can be helped partially or completely through a massage therapy intervention.
